Web Developer for short-term project with Startup (SF Bay Area)
We’re a lean, mean 24 month old bootstrapped startup with great market traction. We’re a leader in a new space of business to business software for small businesses. We’re looking for a strong, php web developer to work on a part-time project redefining our web presence for the launch of our new product. Us - a tight-knit team with diverse backgrounds and nationalities who have banded together to take on a challenge that will change the world if successful. We’re the underdog; our biggest competitor has millions of dollars to spend, yet we believe we can be bigger and better than them. You - firstly someone who likes to go the extra mile to please the end-user. Someone who doesn’t want to waste the time they spend at work but challenge themselves and grow. Relatively out-going and comfortable expressing your ideas and opinions. An expert web developer with deep PHP and javascript experience. Familiarity with jQuery, NetBeans and Unfuddle would be helpful. And did we mention you have to have proven experience developing websites? You should be located in the San Francisco Bay Area. The role is a part-time position, compensated with equity. We’re flexible on how involved you get, when you work and from where. But let’s discuss all of that up front! The project will likely last about 4 weeks and probably take about 15 hours a week. Of course, there’s potential for a longer term engagement too. In addition to equity, we’ll share our connections, our hard-earned experience and, if you get into this with an open mind, we will surely find other ways we can help you in the future. If you're interested…email us. If you're kind of interested….that's ok, email us with your questions If you're not really interested, but maybe a little intrigued….that's ok too, email us anyway If you're not interested, email and tell us what would make you interested! P.S. We’re also hiring a PHP developer. Interested? Search craigslist for ‘PHP Developer for short-term project with Startup’

Web Coder Needed (Design Experience an Asset) (Toronto)
**THIS IS ONLY OPEN FOR TORONTO BASED APPLICANTS** An independent online media company based in Toronto is looking for a strong website coder for a new internet project. Design skills are also an asset, but the focus is for a strong coder. The more you know, the better. Education is an asset, but MORE SO is what you have done, and what your drive would be to achieve my goals. New graduates who have drive are of course very welcome to apply. Wordpress 3.0 may be used as the CMS for this site, so coding skills for Wordpress and a strong uderstanding of this environment is required. If you haven't coded for Wordpress, I don't think this will be a match. However, should the candidate who applies have extensive experience with other blog/news sites I would be willing to discuss the options. App development experience would be an asset, but not required. Strong understanding of social media skills in relation to distributing content online are also an asset. SEO experience important. About me and what I am looking for: I am looking for someone who has a strong drive and willing to work hard to make this project happen over the next month, with a potential for more work later should things work out. This is a PAID position. While money is tight for this project, I don't believe in "freebies," so rest assured. The estimated budget is $2,000 - 3,000 for the full project, but please state what your earning expectations are and we can work from there. If you have years of experience, state what you would expect to earn for your time. My focus and love of online media has me working hard to build my own online empire and I really would like to take a strong candidate along with me for the ride to build this company. I love all things media, and technical in regards to the internet. I have run my own site for years as a blogger, however, I decided to change focus a bit so I no longer have the site up and running. While I consider myself a writer, and an entrepreneur who is not hugely technically savvy, I love learning about all on the internet and really want to work with someone who respects the growth of the internet business and the future of this. I have a film and telecommunications background, both in post production film, and working for a big Canadian firm. If you would like to apply, please send me your resume or link to your portfolio in confidence. I will get back to you once I review the applications. Privacy assured. Thank you very much for you time.

HTML/CSS developer for little Australian company
Papercut are a very small, long-established Austrailian studio, populated and controlled by bona fide human beings. We do most of our development in house, but occasionally our hands get a little bit on the full side, so I'm reaching out for some equally human contractors to help us out. I need somebody (ideally Australian based, Melbourne or Perth for super-bonus points) to handle conversion of existing designs (well-structured PSDs or Fireworks files) into beautiful, clean HTML & CSS. You'll do this with an eye towards web standards and accessibility, and I won't need to tell you why that matters. Your code will work just perfectly in all modern browsers, and degrade as gracefully as possible in at least version 6 of The Beast That I Don't Need To Name. If you're not afraid of working in various templating languages (basic PHP, wordpress, and a fair bit of django templating), I'll like you even more, but that's not 100% necessary. Freelance gigs will be paid on a per-project basis - so long as you charge fairly, you should have a reasonable, low volume stream of work - you won't be competing for work against other coders if your work is good. You have real-world experience beyond student projects. You have a little bit of javascript trickery (knowledge of prototype.js and jQuery a big bonus) You'll be available to start your first job pretty quickly. You'll have looked at our website and you'll understand what kind of company we are, and you'll let me (Patrick) know why you'll fit right in.
