add to favorites (Superhero) Designer needed for Web/Graphic Design (New York - L.A.) IT,Web,Software 39 0
Overview:
ideation Enterprise (i.E.) is a newly formed firm by and for web entrepreneurs, ya we are kind of like the Abraham Lincolns of our time (you know without being an awesome giant who wears a top hat). We are a new company, operated by the young at heart, and we plan on having our hands in everything, from blogs to web-comics to a dash of the match making between talented web-designers (that would be you) and campaigns (individual, business, and political). Too much, nah, we’d get bored otherwise. Plus the more there is to do the more help we need (again, that would be you). Um, ya…so…this is where you come in. We are seeking a young, talented, savvy, passionate, reliable, and hungry (not starving – metaphorical of course) web/graphic designer (aka The Designer: Legends of the Creator) to join i.E. in its quest for world-wide (web) domination. The position is truly ground-breaking (not so much as in never been done before, more like we need people with shovels who aren’t afraid to get dirty). The position will allow you to gain hands on experience with the entire production line – from conception to launch. Oh ya, for those more “serious” things we do expect you to be well organized, thorough, self motivated, responsible and possess excellent verbal, visual, development, and written skills (although additional skills are welcome i.E. – yodeling, heat vision, or the general ability to inspire awesomeness all highly desired). The position is telecommuting friendly, and frankly preferred (its not that you smell – well, maybe you do, I don’t know your hygiene habits – its really that we don’t have the kind of time to wash ourselves always). Although we understand your particular superpower may be the ability to leap tall amounts of procrastinated work in a single caffeinated night, the work is expected to be at least 2 to 3 days a week; however, we are flexible – as we do understand the pressures of keeping your secret identity. As our designer, you will gain more experience then the prom king did in high school. You will be a trusted member of our business and given the opportunity to work on web development projects as well as improving your web development skills.
As the firm grows, you may find an opportunity to join us full-time in a paid position (cape not included). Ideal candidates should be able to code and develop quickly and efficiently, demonstrating knowledge of up-to-date coding techniques.
About i.E.:
i.E. is meant to get people to think way outside of the box. Whether that be opinions on our blogs, the stories in our comics, or the message of a campaign, the point is BE THE BEST, BUT DON’T FORGET TO BE DIFFERENT! Our Team:
So we aren’t the League of Extraordinary Heroes quite yet but we are definitely working on it. Very keen on making sure that there is a fine group of people to build up the business.
In the meantime you will be working closely with the owner of the company, who will work out each design with you. What the opportunity is:
You’ll be treated as an asset, a member, and a contribution resource. The plan is to have a lot of fun in the process but to make sure at the end of the day the work is meaningful – the better it is for us, the better it is for you. As the ”Creator” (of our websites, relax) your task will include: • Website development, content management, and marketing tool development • WordPress CMS knowledge and experience •
Thesis and Frugal theme knowledge experience (or fast learners) •
PHP, MySQL, and advanced SEO tactics • Bring your expertise to existing sites to execute on product recommendations •
Develop front-end code using XHTML/CSS
 • Contribute to valid and accessible XHTML templates for new features
 • Test site across multiple browsers for compatibility and quality assurance
 • Update design/content improvements as necessary
 • Work to create a standardized style guide
 • Experience with building WordPress plugins and applications a plus •
Proficient with Adobe Creative Suite • Ability to learn quickly and handle multiple tasks •
Ability to provide technical feedback on website • Working on setting up social interface (Twitter, Facebook, etc.) • YOUR INTEREST: The design shouldn’t just have your name to it, it should reflect a portion of you too…so speak up, the worst that can be said is no, and hell that ain’t so bad (well unless you are on one knee in a crowded restaurant – that could suck). What The Opportunity Isn’t:
Well to start off – insanely lucrative. But, it’s also not a - tedious, boring glorified copy person. It is a legitimate opportunity to build real content, get real work experience, build your resume up, all while having fun and practically writing your meal ticket (again no, not food – your letter of recommendation for future employers).
Who Should Apply:
Those with the technical skills and the creative mind capable of developing from scratch with the owners desires in mind. Those with education (professional or scholastic) in this field. Someone that can grow with the position. The position is definitely geared towards someone in school looking for experience and a growth opportunity.
To Apply:
Submit a resume, portfolio of previous design experience, and a cover letter. For the cover letter describe why you think your best suited for the position, how you can help us, but also how we can help you (we’ve been here before and know what its like to not get what you want out of the experience), and finally given the wacked out theme of writing this – what superhero you most identify with. We will accept applications on an ongoing basis until we fill our needed position, and will follow-up individually with promising candidates to schedule in-person interviews. Conclusion: If you think you’d like to have fun while being a professional, to crank out high quality work for the experience then apply. Good luck!

The FED position is responsible for producing standards-compliant sites and web applications crafted with dead sexy XHTML. Your knowledge of POSH, Web Standards, web accessibility, markup languages, scripting, basic graphic design, and communication skills will be used to assemble websites, CMS templates, application interfaces and other bits of joy and happiness for some great clients like Ecotrust, MTV, Farm Aid, SolarWorld and Zipcar. What makes you a good fit? Pluses: Subversion, experience with more than one CMS, jQuery, opinions, play the drums, typography love, alphabetized CSS declarations.
