We'll be relying on your expertise in:

Ecommerce

But mostly we're looking for a fun, functional, and unique design that will fully represent our young and growing company.

Who are we? We're The Glossary, a video production company specializing in the creation of book videos for the publishing world. Our videos have been featured on BoingBoing, Wired, and Bookriot, and our clients range from self-publishers to New York Times Bestsellers.

We're a small team of young professionals from a variety of backgrounds and are looking for someone professional and hungry for an opportunity to create something unique.

While the creation of the website will be treated as freelance work, we're also looking to form an ongoing relationship with a talented designer who can help us to meet our clients' web needs. add to favorites Coding is like Poetry (Virtual)
Web Developer aka Coding Poet WANTED !!

We're looking for an amazing Web Developer to be part of our creative team at Louve Notes Media Group (LNMG). The successful developers we have worked with in the past:
• Thrive on solving complex problems. Similar to finding the solution to a crazy puzzle.
• Work best late at night when it's dark and quiet. :P
• Like to be left alone but still able to provide frequent status checks and updates on the work at hand (us project facing types need to know these things)
• Set accurate timelines and deliver when you say you are going to deliver (or earlier is always great) - this is hugely important.
• Believe coding is "poetry."

Most of the real talents fit the above profile ! Do you? We want to hear from you !!

Let's start with some contract work and see where it leads.

Looking for that OCD factor in your development work. We have top line clients and nothing less than awesome will make them happy. Their sites (whether it be web, mobile or whatever the future holds) have to work and work well.
Here's how we operate:
• Our graphic designer creates a fabulous layout in photoshop or equally sophisticated graphics program that outputs a "layered" file.
• The .psd files will then be sent to our Web Developer where he/she will then automagically (well, not exactly) create the backend framework on a CMS focused platform. WordPress, Joomla and the HubSpot CMS would be our choices. Of course, the files will be sent with excellent detail that will help you determine how to create the functionality that we are asking for.

We have no problem saying that templates are the way to go. But, we want you to use the vanilla template that you know in and out. Not tear apart an existing theme from someone else and try to figure out how it works. Waste of talent.
We'd also like help maintaining and updating the existing website and structure for Louve Notes Media Group and our clients as needed.

The ideal candidate will have the following:
• Excellent writing and communication skills

• Ability to work independently
.
• Familiarity with web APIs and development frameworks.

• Well-rounded knowledge of web serving and desktop computing needs.

• Experience developing web applications in: PHP, Python, PERL, Ruby, Django, Rails, .net or similar environment.

• Experience with HTML, CSS and user interface design.

• Familiar with social media applications

• Organized and detail oriented

• Demonstrated interest in social media marketing and public relations

add to favorites Wordpress web developer
Looking for a web developer to help with some additions to our Wordpress site. Specifically, we're looking to build a plugin that works with our theme. An understanding of Wordpress is necessary along with a solid background in PHP, javascript, jquery, MySQL, CSS etc. We're not looking for one-size fits all solutions, but rather someone good at solving challenges, who follows directions, takes pride in their work and has good follow through on projects. I have some examples of what we're looking to accomplish.

This is a contract position, but if the work is quality and the service good there may be ongoing projects. If you're experienced enough and feel confident you can offer consistent, professional service in a timely manner, send examples and your rate.

add to favorites Soho Tech Start-up hiring Marketing-SEO/Sales/Bus. Dev interns. (SoHo)
Our company is an IT Infrastructure Hosting company based in Soho - NYC. The company was founded in 2009 and operated by a young crop of New Yorkers with strong entrepreneurial spirit and drive. Looking for someone to develop and create our companies marketing and sales campaign. Passion for the tech scene, marketing and sales and business growth is more important than having hard skills. ( We can teach you later.)

That's what we are here to develop. A knack for sound strategy, initiative, and results (whether unsuccessful or successful) is embraced. We like risk, and so should you. You will have freedom to pursue your own initiatives that you think the company can benefit from.

The company is in a post startup phase in a community oriented Soho office. It's inspiring for entrepreneurs. 3 day work weeks - summer-time project (college credit is available). Fun stuff, we'll work hand in hand on these projects with clearly defined benchmarks for success. SEO, Google Analytics, creating, developing and executing experimental marketing campaigns is what you will be involved in. Some of your initiatives may fail, and some will succeed. We embrace both, everything is a learning experience.

Projects: The internship will be a combination of the following, depending on your interest.

We host IT infrastructure for small and large companies alike. We call this Infrastructure as a Service (IAAS). We provide a cost effective way for companies ranging from tech start-ups to large enterprises to utilize our IT infrastructure and data center services to avoid heavy upfront investment to try their product or outsource their IT infrastructure to a more reliable, compliant, and intuitive service. It's our job to attract them to this solution.

Why do companies need this service? Companies have become so heavily dependent on a functioning, powered and online network in its day to day operations, which any down-time would cost the company substantially in productivity and revenue. Our services include cloud computing, colocation and managed dedicated & virtual server hosting to major companies for a monthly fee. We offer tech startups, large enterprises the peace of mind to know that business will continue as usual. 24/7/365, in a scalable and cost-effective manner. We strive for cost-effectiveness to get businesses off the ground and for business to continue without interruption.

Because we have the IT infrastructure available to us in a top notch facility, there are so many other high tech sources of revenue to consider, and it our hope that working together we can explore, research and come to a logical strategy with executable actions that demonstrate an immediate impact on the direction of the company. add to favorites Website Designer / Photoshop Genius
Budget: $100 to $500

ABOUT US
Our company provides websites for a specific industry. We have been in business for 20+ years. We are established and stable.

ABOUT OUR PROJECTS
We have 18 different website templates we have provided for our customers' use. We are looking for several designers to "adopt" a website, to update and freshen the website's design.

Note: each website has it's own budget, depending on the amount of work required to complete the overhaul. Sorry to be vague here, but we don't know how to give budgets for multiple projects.

OUR EXPECTATIONS
We need top level designers who can do great work and hit deadlines. This is really a great gig for the right designer. When updating the websites the underlying functionality will remain untouched; the only thing that's changing is the appearance. Two good analogies are a change in an automobile model (the chassis and engine are still in place, it's a new body that's attached to the chassis and engine), and a jigsaw puzzle (you can take one piece out as long as you replace it with another piece of the exact same size and shape).

Our expectation is that the designer will update the individual graphics on their adopted website with graphics that are the exact same size. For example, if the original graphic it named curve_07.gif and is 788 x 90 pixels, the replacement graphic needs to be named curve_07.gif and it needs to be exactly 788 x 90 pixels. We can provide direct FTP access to the original images on a development site, allowing the designer to experiment with these changes in real time.

TIMELINE
We would be ready to move very soon.

CONCERNS
We feel somewhat awkward saying this, but our products have a strong bias for the American business culture. We are not sure a Non-native American, Canadian or British designer would fit. The focus of our websites is a B2B market, although they do see plenty of B2C use as well. And honestly we are new to offsite designers, and don't know exactly what we're getting into - but the concept sounds great and we are very excited to proceed.

add to favorites Globe 3-D Implementation for Political Social Networking Site wanted
Budget: $500 to $1,000

We're looking for a Flash developer to help us integrate an interactive globe in with a political social networking site.

When applying to this job, please indicate one or both of the globes we’ve listed in item #2 so we know you’ve read it.

TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS

1. The political social networking website is based on PHP and the Symfony framework, data output to be supplied in XML; the globe should be able to read and display such data.

2. Either preexisting Flash globes may be used or a globe may be created from scratch. Here are some examples of globes that we’ve looked at:

http://activeden.net/item/3d-spinning-interactive-globe/67604?WT.ac=search_item&WT.seg_1=search_item&WT.z_author=fjordside
This is the closest we’ve seen to what we want. The format of XML is pretty similar as well.

http://activeden.net/item/interactive-3d-world-map-extended-edition/100932?WT.ac=search_thumb&WT.seg_1=search_thumb&WT.z_author=flash_fx

NOTE: If preexisting software is used, then the company providing said software must have no preexisting political connections or relationships, in order to avoid the perception of political bias.

3. The globe should use a political map with the individual countries and bodies of water colored in, not a physical map. We can source and supply this if need be.

4. We’ll want to customize the globe markers (at the very least the colors) depending on various inputs (user’s home country, gender, etc.)

5. The globe must update at regular intervals without a browser refresh. One second intervals would be ideal, depending on server and browser overhead.

6. The globe should be able to work with latitude/longitude coordinates.

7. Ideally, a Javascript will be used to detect the presence of Flash and show the globe when possible, with a 2-D alternative if not possible. Please note that Google Maps is not a valid option for the 2-D alternative since they are highly active in the political scene and we require a product that is politically neutral.
