Description : Under virtual supervision, the coder assigns diagnostic and procedural codes to patient charts of moderate to high complexity using ICD-9-CM, CPT and HCPCS or any other designated coding classification system in accordance with coding rules and regulations. Abides by the Standards of Ethical Coding as set forth by AHIMA. Abstracting required clinical information from the medical record. Responsible for maintaining coding data quality and integrity for all coding assignments at all facilities. Qualifications : AHIMA Credentials a must Minimum three years coding experience acute care setting Coder must display teamwork and commitment while performing daily coding duties. The coder should demonstrate initiative and discipline in time management and assignment completion. The coder must be able to work in a virtual setting under minimal supervision. Floats between facilities as requested. Travel may be required to meet the needs of the facilities § Other duties as assigned based on leadership request(s) § Advanced knowledge of ICD-9-CM and CPT coding principles and rules § Intermediate knowledge of disease pathophysiology and drug utilization § Intermediate knowledge of MSDRG classification and reimbursement structures § Intermediate knowledge of APC, OCE, NCCI classification and reimbursement structures § Effective written and verbal communication skills § Coding proficiency demonstrated by successful completion of approved coding exercise § Excellent organizational skills for initiation and maintenance of efficient work flow § Regular and reliable attendance and time reporting per Conifer Telecommuting program requirements § Capacity to work independently in a virtual office setting or at hospital setting if required to travel for assignment. Qualifications : The Case Manager responsibilities will include: - Coordinating care (e.g., access, admission, discharge, aftercare) in conjunction with physicians, nurse and other clinical staff, payers, patients and their families. - Performing admission and continued stay review per policy and procedures - Planning for discharge needs and arrangements, including leading multi-disciplinary discharge planning teams and assessing patients for discharge planning needs - Reviewing utilization patterns - Ensuring appropriateness of medical care provided and resources utilized compared to evidence-based practice and external requirements, including working with relevant systems and information such as InterQual, eCARE and ECIN - Coordinating weekly Complex Case Review - Communicating and collaborating with physicians, their office staff and staff of ancillary departments (e.g., lab, pharmacy) The potential candidate should have an active Florida Registered Nurse license; Certification in Critical Care, Emergency Nursing, or Case Management preferred. At least 3 years of bedside experience in relevant clinical speciality. Intermediate to advanced computer skills a must, ability to work from home and knowledge of InterQual criteria is a plus. This position will also make recommendations of uncorrected program violations of institutions to Unit Director on adverse actions. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES / COMPETENCIES: Must be registered with ADA Commission on Dietetic Registration or Licensed Dietitian/Nutritionist in NC. Effective communication skills (both written and verbal) with individuals and groups are necessary to administer program services and training to institutions. Knowledge of and the ability to implement and train others on federal regulations, meal pattern requirements, menu planning and nutrition, food safety and sanitation, and quantity food production. Ability to develop and deliver training effectively is critical to the position. Management prefers; Training in adult education, two years of managerial or related experience in food industry or food service management for a business, school or health care institution. Prefers: experience in child nutrition. Prefer employee to be team and detailed oriented, with the ability to follow up and follow through on assignments timely. MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: Graduation from a four-year college or university with a degree in foods and nutrition, institutional management, home economics, or a related area, and three years of experience in a related field of work; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
